Julienne Lusenge

Julienne Lusenge is a woman human rights defender from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her fight for women's rights and against impunity has been internationally recognized. She founded the non governmental organisation Solidarité féminine pour la paix et le développement intégral (SOFEPADI).


Julienne Lusenge mostly works in the province of North-Kivu, in Béni where she provides help to many women who have suffered from sexual violence. She provides healthcare services, reintegration programmes and legal advice to victims of gender-based violence.

Julienne Lusenge also takes part in many initiatives to recognize the role of women in conflict resolution, in particular through the Resolution 1325 of the United Nations.
